Happy Holidays

There is nothing better than the smell of pine on a cold winter day.
A bit of greenery, pine cones, and berries to start off the holidays.

The containers I used were wide at the top
so I made a grid using green floral waterproof tape.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Megan and Luke

Megan had such a clear vision for her wedding.
This is such a blessing for a florist.
The words she used to describe what she envisioned her wedding to be were...

Happy
Traditional
Quiet
Low Key
Classy

Her colors were midnight blue, gray and taupe/cream.

When I was putting her bouquet together, my vision was blurred by my own tears.
She included her grandmother's pearls and on the handle there was a small bunch of white feathers
and a small charm.  The family business involves turkeys which I can only assume is why the white feathers were included and the charm..... I can only guess.
I love that she was so thoughtful in her decisions.

Eucalyptus garlands were hung from candelabras at the church.
The smell was incredible.....

SO HAPPY!!!

Tanya Kay Photography took these beautiful photographs!!!

Congratulations you two!
It was a pleasure working with you...

A Sunday Afternoon...

The flowers aren't quite blooming yet here in Minnesota, so today I began to assemble
a permanent botanical wedding that is coming up in June.

Bloom baby bloom!

OMBRE

Ombre style is a unique wedding trend this year.
The use of Ombre is normally monochromatic with graduating hues; light to dark.
Pictures speak for themselves. Enjoy the visual of Ombre!

Ombre clearly isn't limited to flowers.
Observe the world around you...
Ombre is hot everywhere!

Boho-Pop

Last weekend I was fortunate to have spent my time at Koehler and Dramm Wholesale Florist in Minneapolis at a design show called From This Day Forward - The Newest Wedding Trends and How to Sell them.  Sharon McGukin, AIFD, AAF, PFCI was the featured designer.

She shared with us four wedding trends and I will share the first of these in this post.  It is referred to as Boho-Pop.  The colors are that of the 90's Bohemian/Pop Art craze revisited.
This style reflects big pops of bright colors against a neutral setting.

Floral ingredients may contain... Pincushion Protea, King Protea, Peonies,
Tulips, Freesia, Daffodils,Acacia, Gloriosa Lilies, Asiatic Lilies, Gerbera,
Oncidium Orchids, Succulents, Wheatgrass, Xanadu and Monstera

Other elements at the wedding may include... fringe, tassels, woven accents,
DIY, pop art graphics & geometrics.  This would be a super social event using wedding hashtags.
Comic book themes - decor, photo booths etc...
